About The Plug Weekly

A short, free weekly email that helps builders decide which MCP servers and agent tools deserve a place in their stack.

The Plug Weekly is a small independent publication operated by Aaron Dunn. It is built on the data behind Socketlist, a directory that scores MCP servers.

Where picks come from

1. The official MCP Registry for server names, descriptions and versions.
2. The public GitHub repository for stars, licence, last push, open issues and security policy.
3. The public npm registry for weekly downloads where a package exists.

How they are scored

Each server gets 0-100: maintenance (40), security hygiene (35) and adoption (25). It is a triage signal, not a security audit. Read the full method.

Independence

Sponsored placements are always labelled and never change which servers we pick or how they are scored. We do not accept payment to be a pick.

Corrections

Found a mistake? Tell us and we will check it against the public sources and fix it in the next issue and on Socketlist.
